About the Web Gatherers
Geoff Minshull has worked and taught in various countries, and holds a masters degree in Education and Computing. He was a pioneer in the application of ICT in the voluntary sector in the 1980s; of e-Learning in the 1990s and of on-line conferencing in the naughties. In 2001 he founded Direct Learn, an educational consultancy specialising in running on-line conferences on education. Direct Learn was the largest provider of such conferences in the UK and is recognised as a key innovator in the field. Geoff is an enthusiastic hang and para gliding pilot and frankly would rather be flying. Geoff is the Wing Commander of all things technical at Web Gathering Ltd.
Sonia Sinanan has worked in the UK voluntary sector for the past 25 years in operations, HR, finance and organisation development roles. She has been Director of Operations and Deputy CEO in a number of UK charities and was a founder member of Computer Aid International. She has organised many physical events from participatory analysis workshops to national and international conferences and is committed to using technology to bring people together, enabling them to collaborate in new and different ways. She also wants to help organisations make their resources go further. Sonia is the Empress of Operations at Web Gathering Ltd.
Tony Roberts was a co-founder of the non-profit Coda International (with Geoff) and served as its CEO for 10 years. He then founded the charity Computer Aid International (with Sonia) and was their CEO for 13 years. In the 1990s Tony lectured in New Technology and Development at the University of East London. He has recently completed PhD research in the use of ICT in Development, at Royal Holloway, University of London. At Web Gathering Ltd. Tony is the Twitter Tsar and he spends an awful lot of valuable time on social media sites. You can find him at www.appropriatingtechnology.org .
